Full TextABSTRACT
Most cases of rectal prolapse occur in children and are treated by a pediatrician. Constipation control, careful parenting and normal growth are important factors in preventive treatment. When preventive treatment fails and produces controversial results so the parents of the child are worried because of the long-term illness. In this circumstance, surgery is a preferred way of treatment. A study conducted on 10 patients who suffered from longterm rectal prolapse found that the patients were treated well through surgical treatment without any serious complications. These patients were operated on by simple subcutaneous encirclement of the anus method or were operated by a non obsorbable thread circularly under the skin around the anus. After 4-6 months, these stitching threads either fall out itself or were removed. In the study, 4 patients needed stitches for the second time and one person needed a third time. This procedure is a safe method; therefore, we recommend it to all surgeons in the case of rectal prolapse.
